SAME TOWN, DIFFERENT TIME. A two-tone green streetcar makes its way Westward on Broadway towards St. Louis. The house to the left of the streetcar belonged to Walter and Ruth Cavner in this photo taken looking northward from the steps of St. Mark Church and School in the mid-1950s. Place your cursor on the photo above (there may be a slight delay the first time) to see what it may have looked like then.

An Illinois Traction Company TRIFECTA!
106 YEARS AGO a beautiful postcard with a one cent stamp was postmarked in 1914. The card features a traction car heading to Missouri emerging from the superstructure of the McKinley Bridge and at right background is the Illinois Traction Power Plant - a true trifecta for the company. The bridge and power plant were built by Illinois Traction to link its electric railway with St. Louis.
