Boyd Steven Davis, 65, of Granite City passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
He was born December 12, 1952 in St. Louis, MO to Boyd Ulysses and Rita Arlene (nee: Cox) Davis.
He married Barbara Bonvicino June 27, 2003 in Edwardsville.
When Boyd was younger he ran marathons in his later years he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching baseball
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Davis; son, Steven Wayne Davis; step children, Traci Britt, Carol Mueller and Albert Overton; grandchildren, Samantha Wilson, Jessica Mueller, Shelby Mueller, Olivia Britt, Ella Davis and Nicholas Britt.
He was preceded in death by parents; sister, Diana Lindsey and step daughter, Terri June Overton.

Paula Royce passed away peacefully on Monday, July 30th, 2018. Beloved wife for 56 years of Gerald H. Royce (VHS Class of 1949); loving mother of Charles M. Royce (Andrea) and Carolyn G. Royce; dear grandmother of six.
Paula was a graduate of University City High School and Fontbonne College. After college, Paula was an elementary school teacher and later taught G.E.D. classes for the St. Louis County Work Release Program.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and was a lover of the St. Louis Symphony, The Muny Opera and all things musical.

Patricia Ada Bilbrey, 88, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in the presence of her family.
Patricia was born on October 21, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to Leo and Emma (Klusmeyer) Devany. Patricia married Charles R. Bilbrey on June 14, 1952. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2003. Pat’s parents Leo and Emma, and her two brothers, Henry and Junior preceded her in passing. Also preceded her in death was her grandson Christopher Taylor.
Patricia is survived by her daughter Rose (Ron) Schmollinger of East Peoria, IL, son Michael (Linda) Bilbrey of Branson, MO and son John (Shea) Bilbrey of Glen Carbon, IL; grandchildren, Ryan (Jackie) Schmollinger, Rebecca (Scott) Francis, Sarah Bilbrey, Thomas Bilbrey. The joys of her life were her great-grandchildren; Ava Schmollinger and Ayla Bilbrey. Great-grandson Simon Francis was born on June 29, 2018 and never got to meet his great-grandma.
She graduated from Venice High School with the Class of 1948.
Pat collected miniature tea sets. She loved to watch her hummingbirds drinking their nectar and other birds at the seed feeders. When the squirrels would eat at her bird feeders she would throw poker chips at the window so they wouldn’t eat her bird food. Pat wore out two or three VCR’s recording all her favorite TV shows and specials.
On several occasions, Pat’s fingers would start to itch and a quick trip to the casino seemed to be the cure. She loved to travel with family and friends and remembered most places visited by the food or restaurant.
Patricia was a woman of strong views and opinions on most topics and was not shy or timid when it came to expressing them. She enjoyed her time with her husband, family and friends at Bilbrey Farms.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 fro 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon.
In celebration of Pat’s life, services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Mike Melton officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL.

Jessie Louise (Mitchell) Tackaberry, 77, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Granite City, IL, entered Eternal Life at 9:28 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, NV.
Jessie was born on July 14, 1940 in Granite City, IL. She graduated from Venice Public High School in 1958, majoring in business.
For 18 years, she was employed as an Administrative Secretary at the former St. Elizabeth Medical Center (now Gateway Regional Hospital) in Granite City, IL. Upon relocating to Las Vegas on May 18, 1997, she worked for 15 years as a Medical Records Specialist at HCA Las Vegas Outpatient Surgery Center.
On July 29, 1961, she married John Joseph Tackaberry in St. Louis, MO. John was an elementary/high school teacher in the Venice Public School District in IL.
She and John were married for 41 years, until her husband's passing on March 27, 2003. They had one daughter, Gail Ann Tackaberry, who was born on April 8, 1968.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NV. She was active in their Outreach Ministry, baking cookies and making crafts for the poor.
Jessie's interests/hobbies included: traveling; attending concerts, Broadway musicals, and ballets; visiting museums; cooking; and reading. Her "favorites" list, besides her family and faith/parish were: Las Vegas, Arizona, Hawaii, National Parks, summer, Elvis Presley, and "The Phantom of the Opera."
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Gail Tackaberry, who resides in Las Vegas, NV.
Jessie is preceded in death by her husband, John Tackaberry; and her parents, John and Alice (Williams) Mitchell.
Visitation was on Monday, June 11, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV. There will be a Catholic prayer service from 4:30 to 5:00 during the Visitation.

John D. Jones Sr., of Caseyville, IL was born on November 28, 1953 in Battle Creek, MI, to the late Margaret Billick and grew up in Venice, IL. He passed away at the age of 64 on June 2, 2018, in Creve Coeur, MO.
John graduated from Venice Grade School in 1968.
He worked in Maintenance at Peerless Premier for 26 years until retiring in 2010. He loved to fish, watch Cardinals baseball, and spend quiet time at home. During his younger years he loved to shoot pool and BBQ.
He is preceeded in death by his stepfather, George Billick, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
John is survived by his wife, Robin. nee Popek, to whom he was married to for 34 years. He is also survived by his son, John D. Jones Jr, stepson, William R. Kee; granddaughter Sara Jones; a brother, Larry Willoughby, and sisters Edna Waller and Patricia Whitten and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his adored dogs, Pepper and CoCo.

Sister Rosemary Micka, CDP, formerly Sister Mary Bernard, age 98, of Alton,
died on Sunday May 20, 2018 at Saint Clare’s Villa in Alton.
She entered the Sisters of Divine Providence in 1942, and served
Over 70 years as both a teacher and principal at several different schools.
She taught at St. Mark School from 1961 to 1964 and 1966 to 1971.
She was from a family that saw seven of eleven children enter religious life.
She was preceded in life by her parents, Frank and Catherine (nee: Esswein) and her eight sisters, four of which were nuns, and two brothers who were both priests.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Staten-Fine Funeral Home , 220 Court Street in Alton. A Rosary recitation will be Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of the resurrection will be Thursday, May 24, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at

Betty Joyce Wallace, 89, of Maryville, IL, formerly of Granite City, IL, passed away at 8:00 a.m. Sat. May 5, 2018 at Edwardsville Nursing & Rehab in Edwardsville, IL.
She was born Jan. 21, 1929 in Roodhouse, IL to the late Custus & Luella (Watkins) Riddle.
She married Gerald L. Wallace in Roodhouse in 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1984.
Betty had worked for Ma Bell as a telephone operator for many years and then went on to work as a cook for Venice Schools. She loved to play bingo, was an excellent cook, a huge Cardinal’s fan and loved to spend time with family and friends. She always had her hair done and loved her Pepsi and popcorn and reading the newspaper, especially to those within earshot.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law: Ellen K. Wallace of Granite City; 3 grandsons: Jason (Krystal) Landried Sr. of Maryville, Chris Wallace and Aaron Wallace of Granite City; 2 great-grandchidren: Emily and Jason Landfried Jr.; many nieces and nephews, including Debbie Finazzo who lovingly cared for her; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Ray Wallace and 7 brothers and 6 sisters.

Marie A. Zarlingo, nee Burgener, 90, of Smithton, IL, born January 17, 1928, in St. Vincent, AR, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.
Marie was a loving mother devoted to her family. She enjoyed bingo, quilting, traveling, and visits to the casino. She loved to play Black Jack – and did until the very end.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Ernest P. Zarlingo, who died on March 1, 2017; her parents, Ralph and Regina, nee Kuettle, Burgener; a grandson, Phillip Williams; a son-in-law, Gary Dunn; and numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Tammy Jean Hill, nee Howard, 57, of Columbia, Illinois formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born July 23, 1960, in East St. Louis, Illinois, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Tammy was a faithful member of the Parkview Church of the Nazarene and Emmanuel Nazarene Church. She loved the outdoors and was an avid fan of her children's and grandchildren's sports.
She will be happily joining her father Gary Howard in Heaven and step father Merwin Moore.
Surviving is her loving husband of 36 years Joel Craig Hill; her children, Matt (Andrea) Howard of Columbia, IL, and Michelle Hill of St. Louis, MO; her mother, LaWanda Howard-Moore of Columbia, IL; two brothers Gary (Deborah) Howard of Fairfield, OH and Greg Howard of Nashville, IL; two grandchildren, Bridget and Matthew II. On Saturday morning, April 7, 2018, Our Heavenly Father called Eddie Roy Harper home with Grace and Mercy to be at eternal rest.
Eddie was born December 17, 1946 in Nettleton, Mississippi to the union of Leroy and Ruth Harper. He was the oldest child of three boys. He will be reunited in Heaven with his dad, Leroy Harper and his son, Antonio Harper, both who preceded him in death. Eddie was born into the Canaan Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where his parents served faithfully in the work of the ministry.
He attended elementary school in Nettleton, Mississippi. The family relocated to Illinois where he graduated from Venice Lincoln Tech Ctr. As a young man, Eddie married Ruby Bradley and from this union two children were born. Some years later he married Catherine Treadway, and from this union four children were born.
Eddie was inducted in 1967 into the Unites States Army and served for 6 years. Eddie was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the 4th Infantry Division. He served in Vietnam and received many commendations for outstanding services, including a bronze star and two Overseas bars. After being "Honorably Discharged" he remained a loyal and dedicated welder for Terminal Railroad Association (T.R.R.A.) until his retirement.
Eddie was a master at fishing and loved to hunt and bowl. He was a fan of all sports. Whichever team won the game, that was his team, until LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers came along. Eddie loved to spend quiet time watching T.V. with his mother, never giving up his chair nor the remote control.

Donald E. Gardner, 56, died Friday, April 6, 2018.
He was born on March 13, 1962, and graduated from Venice High School with the Class of 1980.

It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Kay Koelker Hahn announces her untimely passing at her home in Hewitt, Texas, on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the age of 73.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Grace (Grimes) Koelker : sister, Marce Manning; and brother, David Koelker.
Barbara was born on April 22, 1944, in Granite City, Illinois, and graduated from Venice High School in 1962.
She was a dispatcher for the Hurst PD, worked Tech Pubs for Lockheed Martin, received a certificate for Certified Clinical Medical Assistant and worked for Home Instead Senior care. These are just a few of her many accomplishments.
Barbara was a beautiful, loving, caring and fun woman. She was very family oriented and was the glue that held everyone together. One of her favorite things was having her family together for the holidays. She always seemed to find the good in a bad situation and everyone could count on her if they needed anything. She had a smile that could light up a room and many adored her.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Ralph "Bud" Koelker Jr.; children, Rhonda Brooks McGinty, Cathy and Keith Hall, Michael and Heidi Brooks, and Landon Hahn; adopted great-grandson; grandchildren, Brandi and Mark Power, Kris and Denise Kendall, Lil' Rob and Amanda Reusch, Alyssa Davis, Nathan and Jason Brooks; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Shelby, Damon, Curtis, Payton, and Karsyn; many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as many other family members and friends.

Edward "Mike" Mickelson
Edward Michael “Mike” Mickelson, age 64, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at his home. Mike was born on October 27, 1953 in Sacramento, CA, a son of Helmer Mickelson Sr. and Mildred (Foster) Book.
Mike served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. On October 8, 1982, Mike married Connie Bosworth, the love of his life, at Charles Melvin Price Army Depot Chapel, Granite City, IL. He worked for the Department of Defense as a systems analyst.
Mike was a faithful member of St. John United Church of Christ, Granite City, IL. He also sang in the church choir, played the guitar in the church band, “Open Arms”, and served as past president on the church board. Mike was very active in the Granite City Community. He was a member of the Granite City Elks Lodge and served as an ISHA referee for basketball, volleyball, and softball for many years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Mike loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Book; stepfather, Harry “Frog” Book; stepmother, Mary Sellers; and a nephew, Brad O’Neill.

Della F. Murphy, 84, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis on Sunday, March 25, 2018.
She was born June 21, 1933 in North Venice, Illinois, a daughter of the late Daniel and Lorene (Walker) Lancaster.
She married Donald L. Murphy on November 17, 1951 in Arkansas and he passed away on June 13, 2000.
She was a faithful member of Word of Life Tabernacle where she was active with the Ladies group. She was an avid bowler for 39 years and loved her days of traveling to many places along with her husband. She cherished Elvis Presley and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She loved her little poodle, Peppe Laroux and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Michelle Murphy of Granite City; two grandchildren and their spouses, Dustin and Amanda Murphy of Granite City and Ashley and Ken Storck of Okawville; five great grandchildren, Aaron Murphy, Tyler Storck, Beckett Murphy, Haley Smith and Hannah Smith; a great-great grandchild, Carter Murphy; three nieces; Tommie, Kathy and Tammie; two nephews, Curt and Danny; and other extended family and friends.

Ronald H. Blatz, 80, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at Anderson Hospital in Maryville at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018.
He was born February 21, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Harry Blatz and Rose (Dodd) Beasley.
Ronald graduated with the Class of 1956 from Venice High School.
He married Janice Lynn (McKinney) Blatz in Venice, Illinois and she passed away in 1990.
He retired from Crouse Cartage Trucking Company in St. Louis after over 40 years of service as a dispatcher with several companies. He proudly served his country with the United States Army. He had a love for music and loved his days of swing dancing and had participated in many dance competitions with his wife. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church in Granite City and the Venice Social Club. Ronald loved food, telling stories and always ready to share a joke. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by a son, Chris Blatz of Granite City; brother, Mark Beasley; sister, Sharon Beasley; brother-in-law, Fred Diepholz; sister-in-law, Ellen Willmann; other extended family and friends.

Virginia Ruth Voegele, 77, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 3:16 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at her home.
She was born September 9, 1940 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, a daughter of the late Ervin and Emma Hawkins.
She married Thomas Joseph Voegele Sr. on March 18, 1961 in Venice, Illinois and he passed away on March 30, 2004.
Ruth graduated from Venice High School with the Class of 1959.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maryville and a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. She loved watching television and cherished tending to her grandchildren and babysitting for many precious children throughout the years. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

Muriel “Maxine” Fuller, 94 of Belleville, Illinois and formerly of Granite City and North Venice, Illinois passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Cedar Ridge Health Care Center in Lebanon, Illinois.
Maxine was born on November 7, 1923 in Hornsby, Tennessee; the daughter of the late Manley and Rhoda Jane (Sparks) Hurst. Maxine was of Baptist faith and a homemaker and mom. Maxine will be remembered for her kind and generous heart and all the special time she shared with her family and friends.
Maxine is survived by and will be missed by her children; Jo Ann Brand of Belleville, Illinois, Judy (Randy) Lambert of Edwardsville, Illinois, Larry Fuller of Bunker Hill, Illinois; grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) Griffin, Barbara (Jeff) Carter, Stephanie Satterfield, Darren Scott (Kathy) Beyer, Lori Thrutchley, Brent Lambert, Lea (Bill) Northam; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Phillip Ochoa, age 96, of Troy, died at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2018, in Troy.
He was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Davalos, Mexico, the son of the late Aurelio and Carmen Gomez Ochoa.
He married V. Jane Whelehan on June 26, 1946, in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Louis. She preceded him in death.
He is survived one son: Phillip James (Rita) Ochoa of Troy; two sisters: Christine Marie Ochoa of Trenton and Olivia Ochoa, OP, of Troy; grandchildren: Colleen Fields, Carrie Ann (Toby) Sturek and Kathleen (Mark) Tomeoni; great-grandchildren: Jacey Sturek, Brielee Sturek and Macy Sturek and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter: Kathleen Ann Fields; one grandson: John Christopher Fields and brothers and sisters: Salvador Ochoa, Joseph Ochoa, Rosary Gutierrez, Mary Teresa Ochoa, Rufus Ochoa, Raquel Hall, Soladad Ochoa, Aurelio Ochoa Jr. and Ronald Lee Ochoa.
Mr. Ochoa was formerly of Venice, Illinois, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 307 and worked as a yard clerk for the Illinois Central Railroad for 45 years, retiring in 1985. He was a loyal father and husband.

Gene Edward “Hoppy” Robertson Sr. 78, of Madison, Illinois passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville.
He was born December 25, 1939 in Granite City, the son of the late Edward Earl and Aleene Mary (Anderson) Robertson.
Gene graduated from Venice High School with the Class of 1957.
He married Carol Jean (Svoboda) Robertson on June 17, 1977 in Venice, Illinois and she survives.
He retired in 2002 from Granite City Steel after 38 years of dedicated service as a security guard. He had also served 32 years as an auxiliary police officer and served several years as a Police Commissioner with the Madison Police Department.
Gene was a proud member of the N.R.A., was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved attending car shows and going to flea markets and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by three daughters, Teri Lake and fiancé, Carl Gansner of Granite City, Lisa Karius of Granite City and Amy Winn and fiancé, Ryan Campbell of Granite City; a son, Gene Edward Robertson Jr. and wife, Barbara of Garden City, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Whitney Lake, Emily Lake, Kari Robertson, Corey Robertson, Joey Robertson, Hayle Karius, Morgan and Tiffany Frame and Shelby Winn; six great grandchildren, his beloved Ellie Bug, Noah, Cameron, Jaxon, Lukas, Danica and Eddie; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Frank Cowley of Granite City; nieces and nephews, Cindy Scheiter, Ed and Becky Cowley, Pam and Greg Sullivan, Lisa and John Davis and Richard Svoboda, all of Granite City; other extended family and many friends.

Constance Diane “Connie” Chapman, 75, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:55 a.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at her home.
She was born September 22, 1942 in Granite City, a daughter of Josephine (Shambro) Johnisee of Granite City and the late Eddie Johnisee.
She retired from the Madison County Treasurer’s Office after 25 years of dedicated service as a clerk.
Connie was a member of the 1960 class at Venice High School.
She was a member of the Granite City Eagle’s Women’s Auxiliary and the Venice Social Club. She was very artistic and creative working with many crafts, ceramics and flower arranging. She enjoyed cooking and loved her many trips to Florida to enjoy the beach.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her beloved husband, Morris B. Chapman Jr.; three sons, Shawn Almos, Ryan Campbell and Jeff Almos, all of Granite City; a brother, Edward Johnisee of Granite City; mother-in-law, Thelma Chapman of Glen Carbon; other extended family and friends. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Christina Johnisee.

Annetta M. Ohlendorf, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, 78, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born May 5, 1939, in Atlanta, Georgia.
"Mrs. O" was a graduate of Erskine College, was a teacher for 35 years at Venice High School, Venice, Illinois, an avid college basketball fan, all things ACC sports, and a converted St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Louis D. “Marty” Martin Jr. 61, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:49 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born December 18, 1956 in Newport, Rhode Island.
He married Loretta F. (Pace) Martin on September 29, 1984 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Venice and she survives.
He had worked as a government contractor with 36 years of dedicated service and had spent many of those years at the Charles Melvin Price Support Center in Granite City. Marty had retired December 13, 2017 from the Long Lake Fire Department with 24 years of dedicated service to the community and had served as a Past Vice-President.
The United States Marine Corp veteran proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was very involved and always trying to help his community and any veteran’s organization throughout the years.
He was a member and had served as a Past Commander of the Venice-Madison American Legion Post 307 in Venice where he was very active with the Color Guard and Forty and Eight. He was also a member of the Amvets Post 1500 in Pontoon Beach, Vietnam Veterans Association, P.O.W. - M.I.A. Vigil Team, Tri-City Veterans Organization, Ozarks Elks Lodge, Venice Social Club and the National Rifle Association. Marty will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family, friends and colleagues.
In addition to his beloved wife of 33 years, he is survived by his mother, Delberta P. Thomas is a 1945 graduate of Venice High School in Venice, IL. Throughout his life he worked in many fields including 32 years with the Venice Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Coroner with Lahey Funeral Home, and he was the Superintendent of the Venice Street Department. He served on many committees and boards for the county, district and state; he was elected president of the Illinois State Firemens Association.
Thomas was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
A Funeral Mass with be conducted Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Mark Church, 1621 10th St. Madison, IL. A visitation and luncheon will follow the Mass at Parish Hall.

Melba L. Jones, 76, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at her home.
She was born July 16, 1941 in Venice, Illinois, a daughter of the late Silvia and Virgie (O’Bear) Ireland.
She married Raymond E. Jones Sr. on August 20, 1960 in Granite City and he passed away on September 22, 2015.
She had retired from Jones Distributing after several years of service as a supervisor. She was a member of the Granite City Moose Lodge, Granite City Eagles Aerie #1126 and the Mexican Honorary Commission. She enjoyed her many nights of volunteering her time working bingo or joining in many nights playing bingo. She enjoyed her days of playing softball and later watching others playing. She was a faithful fan of Elvis Presley and made many travels to Graceland throughout the years. She also enjoyed her travels to Branson and to Florida to enjoy the beach.
She cherished her grandbabies and great grandbabies and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Diane Jones Jr. of Granite City; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Eberardo Sanchez of Granite City; five grandchildren and spouses, Samantha Woods, Brittney and Jacob Hartman, Raymond E. Jeffrey A. “Fro” Willoughby, 52 of Cahokia, Illinois, formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018.
Jeff was born on December 9, 1965 in Granite City, Illinois. Jeff was a talented construction mechanic working for American Motors in Cahokia. Jeff spent his days working on cars, playing pool and riding motorcycles. He loved music, especially the song “Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog”. Most of all Jeff loved his family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.

John C. Boushard Sr. 77, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018 at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born July 26, 1940 in Granite City, a son of the late Clement Earl and Hazel Marcella (Travis) Boushard.
John graduated with the Class of 1958 from Venice High School.
He married Betty “Bernice” (Rody) Boushard on August 13, 1959 in Chester, Illinois and she survives.
He retired January 2, 2001 from Granite City Steel after 42 years of dedicated service as an oiler. He also owned and operated John Boushard Home Remodeling with over 50 years of service to the community.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maryville and proudly enjoyed working throughout his life and was proud to instill this work ethic throughout his family.

She was born on November 12, 1939 in St. Louis, MO to the late James Otis Thompson and Lorraine (nee: Nance) Wantland.
Barbara graduated from Venice High School with the Class of 1957.
Barbara was a union secretary for CWA for 10 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Tri-City Park in Granite City.
The loving mother and grandmother is survived by 3 daughters: Julie Ballhorn of Collinsville, IL, Lori A. Skinner and her fiancé Timothy Ponce of Collinsville, IL and Christine (Terry) Collins of Granite City, IL; 6 grandchildren: Troy Risinger, Seanna Risinger, Jessica Lorraine Skinner, Mariah Tate-Arguelles, Isaac Conaway and McKenna Smith; 7 great grandchildren and a brother, James Thompson of Amelia, FL.

Jack L. Gilmore, 87, of Collinsville, Ill., born on August 29, 1930 in Collinsville, Ill., passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.
Jack was a retired teacher from Collinsville Unit 10 and Venice Community School District 3. He was head of the Social Studies Department at Collinsville High School. He was an usher for the St. Louis Cardinals for 20 years; the St. Louis Rams for 15 years. He was an usher at the Fox Theater, St. Louis, Mo. He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran. He was the founder and director of the Collinsville Senior Citizen Shuttle Bus. He was raised and attended the First United Methodist Church, Collinsville, Ill. and was currently attending St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill. He coached little league soccer, was a member of the American Legion Post 365, Collinsville, Ill., was a Collinsville Township Board member, a member of the Collinsville Rec Club and a member of the Collinsville Public Library. His Elementary Class at Webster School donated the Pan Fountain in front of the Collinsville Public Library. He was an avid reader.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Oleatha, nee Hilgmyer, Gilmore; two brothers, Donald and Alan Gilmore; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence and William Meehan.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Gilmore, nee Meehan, whom he married in Collinsville, Ill on June 14, 1960; sons and daughter, Scott Gilmore of Houston, Tex., Todd (Jodi) Gilmore of Collinsville, Ill. and Jacklyn Gilmore of Jennings, Fla.; grandchildren, Taylor, Courtney, Brady and Cameron Gilmore; a sister-in-law, Joy Gilmore of Imperial, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Christina Sandor Johnisee, 65, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 1:10 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born June 10, 1952, in Granite City, a daughter of the late William Michael and Caroline Anne (Pilon) Sandor.
She married Edward C. “Eddie” Johnisee on July 6, 1979 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Venice.
She retired on May 27, 2009, from the Madison Community Unit School District 12 after 34 years of dedicated and loving years as an elementary teacher.
She enjoyed volunteering as a tutor with Calvary Life Church in Granite City and caring for other's throughout her life. She was an avid Coca-Cola fan, loved traveling, enjoying the beach and taking in the sunshine in her years of trips to Panama City Beach and around the world. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City. Spending time with her grandchildren was the biggest joy in her life. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

Richard L. McGee, 88, of Granite City, IL, passed away on January 14, 2018 at University Health Care Center in Edwardsville, IL.
He worked and retired from Alton Southern Railroad for 43 years. He was of the Catholic faith.
Richard was born on July 16, 1929 in Venice, IL to Daniel W. and Mable (nee, Tosh) McGee. He married Myrtle Harman on December 11, 1972 in Granite City, IL. She preceded him in death on May 8, 2004.
He is survived by his children, Patricia Rose (Vinnie) McKenna of Washington and Richard (Jan) L. McGee Jr. of Colorado, his sister-in-law, Ruby Kessinger, his nephew, Ken and Marianne McGee of St. Charles, MO and special friends, Marty and Nancy LeVault and his Park Grill family.
A graveside service for Richard will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL. Sunset Hill Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mitchell “Mitch” Hyden, age 70, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at his home. Mitch was born on August 8, 1947 in Letcher, KY, a son of the late William Hyden and Hassie (Caudill) Hyden.
Mitch was a United States Army Veteran who proudly served his country. On June 3, 1967, Mitch married Martha Schmidtke, the love of his life, in Granite City, IL. Martha passed away on November 14, 2009. Mitch was a faithful member of City Temple in Granite City, IL. He retired as a manager from Nestle Corporation after many years of dedicated service. Mitch was a volunteer at City Temple food pantry and he enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. His greatest joy was spending time family. Mitch loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mitch was preceded in death by his son, John “Bubba” Hyden; brother, Gary Hyden; and by his brother-in-law, Mel Andrews.
He graduated with the Class of 1966 from Venice High School.

Memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at City Temple, Granite City, IL.

David Darrel Painter, born October 29, 1941, in St Louis, MO to Ralph and Margaret Painter passed away January 8, 2018, at Tampa General Hospital surrounded by his family.
Survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Ann Painter, son David Matthew Painter of Houston, TX, daughter Susanne Beth Paton and husband Major Daniel Paton of Plant City, FL, grandsons Brandon(Brittany) Paton of Zephyrhills, FL, Blake Paton, Lexington, SC and Hunter Paton, Plant City, FL.
David was a lifetime educator, graduating from Eastern Illinois University in Mathematics and earned his MEd at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. He began his teaching career in 1964 at Prather Junior High in Granite City, IL. He became principal at Granite City High School in Granite City, IL from 1988-1998. In 1999, he was the interim principal at Trinity Lutheran Grade School in Edwardsville, IL before moving to SC to become an assistant principal at Irmo High School in Irmo, SC from 2001- 2004.
He graduated from Venice High School with the Class of 1959.
God’s word and the church was the core of David’s life from its earliest beginnings at Concordia Lutheran Church in Granite City where he became church treasurer, elder and usher. Being a part of establishing Metro-East Lutheran High School in Edwardsville, IL in 1977 was by far one of his greatest accomplishments. His move to SC began a new church family and focus. He arrived at Mt Olive Lutheran Church in Irmo, SC just in time to help develop the Mt Olive Lutheran Preschool in 2007 and serve as board chairman for almost 10 years.
David loved all sports, especially his St. Louis Cardinal Baseball team. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Patti, especially their trip to Spain and their northeastern Lobster adventure. But, on any given sunny day, you need only look to the nearest golf course to see his smiling face and happiness. David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, but he was also a great mentor and friend to anyone in need. From his sponsorship and development of Lutheran Preschools to Metro East Lutheran High School, his devoted stewardship to the church and faith was second to none. David was, above all, a family man and community patriarch.

Emma Louise (Berry) Valentine Jimerson, 100, of Madison, IL, passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. She was the mother of long-time Venice Alderman Victor Valentine.
She was born in Byhalla, MS, on June 7, 1917.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19 at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 1035 Market St., in Venice.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. immediately following the visitation.
Burial will follow at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Christopher Michael Hocking, 43, of Cottage Hills, Illinois and formerly of Venice, Illinois passed away at 3:46 p.m. on Monday, January 1, 2018 in Pontoon Beach, Illinois.
He was born April 28, 1974 in Granite City, Illinois, a son of Donna Sue (Nash) Hocking of Venice, Illinois and Robert Hocking of Wood River.
He had worked many years in security. He enjoyed his younger days of attending church, being active with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and loved watching wrestling. He was a 1992 graduate of Venice High School and later attended S.I.U.E. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Amanda (Armer) Hocking; his two sons, Christopher Michael Hocking Jr. and Jackson Bane Hocking; brother, Michael A. Katana; other extended family and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Christina Michelle and Melissa Dawn Hocking.

Steven B. Fears, 64, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 5:28 a.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Integrity Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Godfrey.
He was born August 18, 1953 in Venice, Illinois, a son of the late Floyd and Edna (Brawley) Fears.
He had worked in the automotive industry throughout the states of Illinois, California and Florida with over 40 years of service in sales and management.
Steven had a love for classic muscle cars and enjoyed restoration of them. He also enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by two brothers, Gary Fears of Delray Beach, Florida and Keith Fears of Granite City; nieces and nephews, Victor Fears, Anastasia Fears, Katrina (Chris) Flournoy, Samantha (Michael) Vanesler, Brandon Butler, Joey Lowrey, Dakota Fears, Nicholas Fears, Serina Vanesler, Alex Butler, Gage Vanesler, Ryan Joyce and Sean Joyce; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathleen Fears, Margaret Fears and Linda Fears Butler and one brother, Michael Fears.

Carolyn J. Daniels, 83, of Springfield, died at 8:50 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born July 30, 1934 in Eldorado, IL, the daughter of Claude Lincoln and Mayme McClernon Bowling. She married James Daniels, Sr. in 1958 and he preceded her in death in 2007.
Carolyn graduated from Eldorado High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Later in her career she earned her master’s degree in Counseling from Sangamon State University. She was a teacher for 40 years at Hay Edwards Elementary School and after retiring, Carolyn was a substitute teacher at both private and public schools. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish where she was active in the Legion of Mary, Caregivers and volunteered as an usher at Sangamon Auditorium. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was very active in their lives. Carolyn also enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle. She often could be seen visiting with family and friends on her front porch.
Carolyn taught at Venice Grade School for a time.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jamie Johnson; twin brother, Carroll Bowling; and sister, Viola Bowling.
She is survived by her children, James Milton (wife, Kate) Daniels, Jr., M.D. of Quincy, Mary Ann Johnson of Springfield, Katy Martin of Springfield, and Ann (husband, Bill) Neale of Pleasant Plains; grandchildren, Tim Johnson, Jr., Jamie Johnson, Jason Johnson, Toby Daniels, Maggie Daniels, Lizzie Daniels, Eren Schnell, Shane Sullivan, Elijah Martin, and Robert Neale; great-grandchildren, Bella Staab, Eva Johnson, Ivy Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, and Lakyn Pritchard; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

David E. Ohlendorf, 93 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on, Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon.
David was born on November 2, 1924 in Venice, Illinois; the son of the late William and Hester (Howland) Ohlendorf. David was a crane operator at Granite City Steel and proudly served his country in the United States Army in WW II. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City and a member of the Granite City American Legion. During his free time, David enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with his model trains. He enjoyed his days of driving his Buick, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family.
He was a member of the graduating Class of 1942 from Venice High School.
He is survived by and will be missed by his daughter-in-law; Linda Ohlendorf of Maryville, Illinois; his grandchildren, Matt Ohlendorf of Edwardsville, Illinois, Amy Ohlendorf of O’Fallon, Missouri and numerous nieces, nephews and many other close family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Ohlendorf, whom he married on August 5, 1947 and his son, David Ohlendorf.
A private family burial will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville at a later date.

Norma June Cullum, 69 of Granite City, IL passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Norma was born on February 29, 1948 in St. Genevieve, Missouri; the daughter of the late Elmer and Gladys (Cook) Nash Brown. Norma was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Tabernacle Church in Madison, Illinois. In her free time she enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and Karaoke. But most of all she loved her family and adored spending time with her grandchildren. Norma will be remembered for her kind heart and all the special times she shared with her family.
She currently served as vice president of the Venice.History Committee and was a member of 1966 graduating class at Venice High School.

Jacqueline “Jackie” M. Starr, nee Gudac, 87, of Fairmont City, IL, born on November 25, 1930, in Madison, IL, died on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Jackie was a former property assessor with the Madison County Assessor’s office for 20 years. She also was a former Office Clerk with the WIC Program at Centreville Township Hospital. Jackie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve J. Starr; her parents, Ivan and Mary (nee Majetic) Gudac; six sisters and one brother.

Rose (Ceresero) Cooper, 91 of Venice, Illinois passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Stearns Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Granite City, Illinois.
Rose was born on March 14, 1926 in Collinsville, Illinois; a daughter of the late Ignacious and Mary Ceresero. Rose was a life long homemaker and of Catholic faith. Rose loved her family and always put them first. She will be remembered for her loving heart and all the special times she shared together.

Paul LeRoy Fisk, 83, of Troy, Illinois, went to his Heavenly abode at 6:10 a.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home with his family and friends by his side.
Paul was born January 9, 1934 in Venice, IL, the son of the late William Ernest and Ethel (Summers) Fisk. His boyhood was spent with his 9 brothers and sisters in Illinois and Missouri.
In 1952, Paul enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and proudly served his country during the Korean War on various assignments. He was thrilled to be included in a Land of Lincoln Honor Flight in 2016. Paul learned the meat cutting trade upon leaving the military, while living in California. Upon his return to home in Illinois, he continued meat cutting for 34 years and was a member of Meat Cutter’s Local # 534. He was a meat cutter for over 28 years at Schermer’s Market in Madison.
He served as a Granite City Alderman for 14 years and served on various community boards, including the board of Good Samaritan House in Granite City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his hunting and fishing buddies throughout the US and Canada…..his special groups of friends were those he hunted and fished with in Southern Illinois where he always felt like family. Paul was a dedicated Christian and loved God, his Country and his Family. He will be missed for his laughter, his story telling and devotion to others. Over the years, Paul opened his home to over 15 family members and friends needing a place to stay.
He is survived by his wife, Lonnie Carolyn Causey Rainwater, whom he married in May 2005. He is also survived by two daughters, Angela Holubasch (Bob), Decatur, IL, Sheila (Ray) Lewis, Troy, IL, and a son Anthony (Tammy) Rainwater; Six grandchildren: Justin (Emily) Niebruegge, Nicole Holubasch (Cole), Chad (Amber) Rainwater, Zachary (Priscilla) Rainwater, Parker (Lizzy) Lewis and Chase Lewis, and 3 great grandchildren: Noah and Lydia Niebruegge and Parker Jayne Lewis; and his extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law: Clifford and Hanin Causey, Sikeston, MO; Travis Causey, Porter, TX; and Mary Ellen (George) Brower, New Port Richey, FL; Peggy Slayden, Miami, FL; Bernie Crockarell, Glen Carbon; Jeanette Morlen, Granite City; Baxter (Donna) Crockarell, Ballwin, MO; Lennie David (Marge) Crockarell, and Patti McDaniel, Edwardsville; Billy (Linda Martin) Crockarell, Woodland Park, CO; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and wonderful church friends.

Alma Ilene Coggins, 71, of Nason, Illinois passed away at 7:09 P.M. October 9, 2017 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born April 30, 1946 in Venice, Illinois to Everett and Peggy (Amundson) Dennis.
Alma is survived by her two sons, David Coggins and wife, Stephanie and Mark and wife, Tonya; three grandchildren, Taylor Coggins, Hunter Coggins, and Shelby Coggins; significant other, Glendell Carter; two sisters, Denise Welch and husband, Craig and Marty Philippi and significant other, Alan McMurough; brother, Mike Dennis and wife, Sherry; two stepdaughters, Jody Zellers and husband, Eric and Pamela Thrash and husband, Jason; step-grandchildren, Cole Zellers, Cady Zellers, Jack Zellers, Keagon Thrash, and Karson Thrash; two nieces, Emily Welch and Michelle Dennis; and one nephew, Michael Dennis.

Terri Koelker, age 69, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at her home, with her loving family by her side. Terri was born on October 21, 1947, in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Alfred “Gene” Frith and Nadine (LeMaster) Frith.
On March 14, 1970, Terri Frith married Ralph “Bud” Koelker, the love of her life, in St. Louis, MO. Terri was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She also attended Tri-City Assembly of God Church and was an active member of Season Saints. She had retired as a GS 13 from the Department of Defense in St. Louis, MO as a software engineer. After retirement, Terri worked ten years for Computer Science Corporation as a system analyst. Terri enjoyed sewing, scrap booking and quilting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Terri loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was the daughter of the late Dr. John E. and Margaret Lee.
Mary Frances graduated from St. Mark School in 1963 and attended a private high school.
Mary Fran spent her career at her second home, Nerinx Hall. She developed numerous young women as a math teacher and athletic director.
Visitation will be at Annunciation Catholic Church, 12 West Glendale Rd., Saturday, October 7, 9 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Private interment.

Doris June McFain, age 89, of Granite City, IL, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL. Doris was born on January 28, 1928 in Dover, OH, a daughter of the Louis and Lydia (Ferris) Heintz.
Doris proudly served her country in the United States Air Force. She had worked at Venice High School and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City, IL as a registered nurse. She had retired from the U.S. Government, Department of the Army, where she worked in the clerical department. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Doris loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, William E. McFain, one daughter, Maureen McFain-Bailey and by her brother, Robert Heintz
She is survived by her loving children, Vicki Shope of Cottleville, MO, Roger (Deborah) McFain of East Alton, IL, Billie Jean Moore of TX and Dana (Karen) McFain of Greenwood, AR; proud grandmother to Jeffrey (Mary) Shope, Alex Shope, Kelsey Shope, Katie (Richard) Taylor, Kelli McFain, Adam McFain, Andrew Bailey, Lucas Bailey, Autumn Rainey, Ashley Rainey and Tammy Kelly; proud great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Norm Bailey extended family and many friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Granite City, IL, where in celebration of her life, funeral services followed with Rev. Henry Crippen officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force.

Margaret A. Gilbert, 88 of Troy, Illinois passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born on October 25, 1928 in Venice, Illinois; a daughter of the late William and Roxanna Mae (Babel) Downs. Margaret was a manager and cashier at National Stock Yards and Miss Hullings in St. Louis. Margaret enjoyed watching wrestling on TV and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was known by her generous giving heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
Margaret is survived by and will be missed by her children; Brenda Cortner of Troy, Illinois, Randy “Butch” Gilbert Sr. (Tammy Brouhard) of Edwardsville, Kansas; her grandchildren, Angie (Donnie) Arban, Greg (Melissa) Cortner, Kim (Adam) Stellhorn, Jennifer Gilbert (Chris), Carla Gilbert (Johnny), Randy (Monica) Gilbert Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Anestassia, Samantha (Adam), Donnie (Ashley), Skiler, Jonathan, Chloe, Gavin, Jeffrey, Sarah, Mackenzze, Dawson, Gracie, Isabelle, Trinity, Olivia, Drew; great-great-grandchildren, Peyton, Presley.

Donald Maurice Crisel, 85, of Granite City, IL passed away at 9:31 a.m. Tues. Sept. 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 7, 1932 in Venice, IL to the late Harold & Lucille (Allen) Crisel.
He and Donna Cook were married Aug. 29, 1984 in Mountain Home, AR. She survives in Granite City.
Don served in the U.S. Airforce from 1950 – 1962 and later retired from Granite City Steel after more than 25 years of service. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley Southern Illinois, Ainad Shrine, Emeth Masonic Lodge #1030, and a life member of Concorde Lodge #42 – Paris, France, AMVETS Post #51 and VFW Post #1300.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters: Donna K. (Roger) Robertson of Warrensburg, MO, Kimberly (Jeff) May of Decatur, IL and Debbie (Jason) Thomas of Carbondale, IL; 2 sons: Bruce Crisel of KY and Jimmy (Danielle) Pfeifer of MI; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother: Joe Sobczak of Alton, IL; 2 sisters: Ramona Burnett of Granite City and Marsha Horton of Houston, TX; and his special family: Tim & Linda Pappas.
Visitation and services were at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial followed at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with military honors.

Arthur G. Billick
Arthur George "Binky" Billick, 64, of Madison, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Monday, September 4, 2017 at his home.
Born Jan. 16, 1953 in Granite City, he was the only child of John and Rose (LeCompte) Billick. He married Linda Parker in Granite City, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Melinda Carnahan of Granite City; three sons, Michael (Amber) Billick and Richard Carnahan, all of Granite City, and Johnathn (Darcus) Billick of Litchfield, IL; 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory where services will be held at 6 p.m.
John Raymond Wise, 57, of Pontoon Beach, Ill., formerly of Venice, Ill., born on September 10, 1959 in Venice, Ill., passed away at 6:06 p.m. Thursday, Augusts 24, 2017 at Gateway Regional Hospital ER, Granite City, Ill.
John was in the Marine Corps from 1978 to 1984. He worked as a dock supervisor at Conway Motor Freight and was a chauffeur for 22 years and retired in 2015. John loved to ride his Harley in his free time.
Preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Sue Swaringim, whom he married on August 25, 1979 in Glover, Mo.; and his parents, John Wise and Martha Gibson.
Surviving him are his children, John (Alicia) Wise Jr. of Potosi, Mo., Stacey Wise of Pontoon Beach, Samantha (Fiancee, Matthew Parsons) Wise of Potosi, Mo. and Amber (special friend, Collin Spier) Hammond of Alton, Ill.; Cindy Lankford of Pontoon Beach; sisters, Theresa Wise and Patricia Wise of Alton; grandchildren, Justin Wise, Tayler Hancock, Allyce Hammond, Johnny Wise, Aiden Hanebrenk, Bentley and Landon Parsons and Emmett Spier; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, "Liza-Jane".

Robert F. Blattner, of Waterloo, IL formerly of Granite City, IL, born on January 14, 1925, died August 15, 2017 in Waterloo, IL with his family by his side.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Kathy) Blattner Jr, Barbara (Jon) Sloan, Dr. John (Kathy) Blattner, and Paul (Jahnne Kae) Blattner; grandchildren Shawn Ard, Brooke Blattner, Ryan (Lauren) Ard, Lisa (Chris) Uribe, Angela Blattner, Michael Blattner, Ashley (Trey) Burris, Sarah (Mike) Utz and John Blattner Jr; great grandchildren Allyson, Claire and Macy Ard, Carson Uribe, Lily Burris, Hank and Colt Utz.

Robert was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Waterloo, IL, a member of the American Legion and an officer in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He was a retired teacher having taught school in Granite City and Venice, IL for 33 years.

Doris Ellen (Griffin) Yelley of Arcadia, MO passed away August 15, 2017 at her residence at the age of 68.
She was born November 8, 1948 in Granite City, IL a daughter of Ted and Delores Zeigler Griffin.
Doris is survived by three children, Melba and husband Tony Crisp of Arcadia, Tracy Whited and companion Maria of Paris, TN, Christine Yelley and Nick Smith of Paris, TN; two brothers, Joe and wife Eileen Griffin of Edwardsville, IL, Virgil and wife Mary Griffin of Belleview, MO, a sister-in-law Ann Griffin of Granite City, IL and one sister Theresa and husband Ted Crawford of Ironton, MO, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three more on the way.
Preceding Doris in death are two children, David Fudge, Sr. and Virginia Yelley, one brother Melvin Griffin, and one sister Kathy Ellsworth of Litchfield, IL.
A life celebration was held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 12 pm from the Cole Family Chapel, where the visitation began at 11 am. Ted Crawford officiated at the services.
Thomas Henry Hormann, 78, passed away 8:15 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017, at his residence.
He was born March 23, 1939, in Venice, Illinois, to William D. and Grace (Hackney) Hormann who have passed away. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Herbert ‘Sonny’ and a sister-in-law, Patsy.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1962 and was a member of American Legion Post 127 in Murphysboro.
He had worked as a factory worker for a shoe company.
Tom was an avid Cardinals fan and loved to be outside. His hobbies included playing golf and fishing.
Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Linda Hormann of Sullivan, Missouri, and Chuck and Tammy Hormann of Bartlett, Tennessee; a sister and brother-in-law, Shadyann and Eugene Callahan of Rolla, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins including T. C. Schaefer.
A memorial graveside service with military rites, provided by American Legion Post 127, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, in Walker Hill Cemetery, Grand Tower.
Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to American Kidney Fund.
